Additionally, she was recently the lead author an HDR white paper regarding behavioral health and virtual care. To validate design decisions, she helped conduct a research study and analysis on bed trends, which she’s currently working on getting published. During a predesign study for the Zucker Hillside Hospital, she worked with industry leader Frank Pitts in planning the new child and adolescent behavioral health facility. She also utilizes her background in research.
Her recent work includes planning and diagramming for a new Behavioral Health Institute for King County in Seattle, a net-zero carbon behavioral health facility. Over the past three and a half years, Zanjani has made significant contribution to both the industry and HDR through project work, research, publication, advocacy, public speaking, and business development. In 2019, she joined HDR where she’s become a behavioral health design specialist, working on projects nationally and internationally. This inspired her to go back to school and earn a Master of Architecture and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development at Columbia University.
After spending years on the front lines of the behavioral health crisis from both from a research and clinical perspective, Zanjani noticed the significant impact that spaces had on patient recovery and the urgency for better healing environments for this patient population. New bus facilities recently opened at the station's eastern portal, and a new plaza and multi-use path are planned for its Alameda Street frontage.Prior to her career in architecture, Anosha Zanjani had an established career in the mental health field, working in psychiatric facilities, private practice, and academic institutions, where she conducted clinical research and worked directly with patients suffering from severe mental health disorders. Since purchasing Union Station in 2011 for $75 million, Metro has invested heavily in adding new amenities to the historic passenger rail hub. Metro has yet to formally announce a bid for any new real estate projects within the property, although the agency has held conferences to solicit interest from developers and other parties. The existing 30-foot-wide tunnel would be widened to 140 feet, creating additional space for passenger circulation.Īt the west side of the station, a new open-air plaza is proposed adjacent to waiting room of the historic station building, which would be activated through the addition of new shops and restaurants.Ĭonceptual commercial developments are also depicted throughout the station site. The flythrough video highlights a proposed revamp of the Patsaouras Bus Plaza and Union Station east portal, which would lead into an expanded passageway beneath the rail yard. Rendered view of expanded passenger tunnel Metro The second phase of the Link Union Station project calls for using calls for expanding its passenger concourse and adding new amenities. The completed project would allow Union Station to serve upwards of 200,000 daily passengers by 2040, double the amount it saw during its pre-coronavirus peak. To date, Metro has secured roughly $950 million in funding for the run-through tracks, which would enable through routing for Metrolink, Amtrak, and future high-speed rail service. The project, branded as Link Union Station, builds off of a decades-old proposal to construct run-through through tracks crossing over the US-101 freeway, eliminating an existing stub-end layout which forces all trains to enter and exit through the station's five-track throat.
